How to make Passive Income Online
Have you seen all the hype on social media about making money online and how people are claiming they make money in their sleep? Well, I have and I finally jumped in head-first a couple of months ago.). Not purely because of the money claims but because I’ve been wanting to mentor as a photographer and I need a new business challenge, I get bored easily. I do have student loans I’m still paying so if I’m being honest, I also wouldn’t mind a little extra (passive) income.
I’m not easily persuaded when it comes to investing my money. I researched high and low and felt like there were so many people trying to suck me into their sales funnel with free (garbage) pdfs of free info. They wanted me to subscribe to their email list and in return they send me some pdf they slapped together in 5 minutes.
Don’t get me wrong, 1 out of 10 people were offering a good freebie and I am more than happy to be signed up for their email list. You have to be very selective though, because there are people out there trying to make a quick buck, but then there are the few that are genuinely full of knowledge trying to help people.

My deep dive into researching Passive Income
Over the course of a few weeks, I researched all the proclaimed passive money-making gurus and workshops but added scam to the search term in Google. I wanted to read everything good and bad! I wanted to know everything about passive income, affiliate marketing, and digital marketing business, etc.
I wanted real reviews and to bypass any of the marketing hooks a this point in my research. I looked for real people who were using the products/workshops for their online business. I had to dig deep!
I stumbled onto a blog post from a mom who had an established in-person business. She had blogged about the Roadmap 2.0 program and I could see from her social media that she was implementing it into her business and was not solely focused on reselling the Roadmap 2.0 program.
I settled on and purchased Roadmap 2.0 from her after seeing how she was implementing it into her already-established business. I wanted to show my support to her by purchasing it from her and not someone else who was purely just reselling it without any indication of using it for their own business….. and I was ready to purchase it to dive into it myself!
Some people are just buying a bunch of these master resell courses (this is what Roadmap to Riches is) and turning around and selling them without actually applying them to their own business. This is fine but it is not sustainable and I’m not interested in supporting that. I want to support people who are using these courses to develop and create their businesses and products that don’t lean solely on MRR.
From all the research I’ve done, I’ve learned with this type of business it is better to not put all of your eggs in one basket. It’s great to resell or do affiliate marketing but if you are only focused on one or two MRR courses – what happens if they close down or you get booted for not following the rules, etc. If you have some of your own products in the mix or your own business then you are fully in charge.
My thoughts on Roadmap to Riches aka Roadmap 2.0 (soon to be 3.0)
The creators of The Roadmap, Zach and Hannah are a small-town husband and wife team with young children who found success when they created this course to help us “thrive independently from the corporate world.” They attached MRR to the course, which means they are not making any money off of you or me if we resell the course. I loved that my purchase wasn’t benefitting a massive corporation. The course is constantly being updated and they are actually on the brink of releasing Roadmap 3.0 and you get free access to that if you’ve purchased any form of Roadmap. There are zero upsells from these guys. You pay one price and that is the end. **Unlike Legendary Marketer which I have some beef with. See blog post here.
I found Roadmap to Riches in January and it is only February right now and I am just drowning in all my ideas and the to-do list I’ve made after being so inspired by this program!
So first, let me explain my background a bit. I have been a photographer for 14 years and before that, I graduated with a BFA in graphic design web/print. That being said, this course is for a range of skills and qualifications. I was able to skip through a few portions or skim through them because of my background in graphic design. It was nice info to have to brush up on and its amazing thorough information for anyone who doesn’t have the background that I do!
So my main goal in purchasing this was to figure out how to expand my business to helping people who want to become photographers and also I wanted to create some passive income streams to pay off this never-ending student loan debt.
I have been at this for a little over a month- I flew through the course and I am still going back a few hours a week and watching videos over to keep it fresh in my mind. There is so much information! In this short time, I have already started two websites and have been working hard to get blogs published so that Google will pick up on SEO (all things the course talks about).
I also joined the Amazon affiliate marketing program as well as several photography niche affiliate programs. I made money the first couple weeks of being in those programs. It takes time but I can see all the pieces coming together. While I get the passive income streams started I’m also working on some of my own digital products that I will be able to sell to help other photographers.

I highly recommend using The Roadmap as a guide for starting your own business, digital or otherwise. However, there are many people, including lawyers, teachers, and people of all walks of life from all over the world in this online community making 4+ figures a month just reselling the MRR course (Roadmap to Riches). My websites were created from the knowledge I learned in Roadmap to Riches.
Why I decided to start selling Roadmap to Riches
So the truth is that I had no desire to resell this course. I simply wanted to get the info and apply it to my business and never look back 🙂 I realized extremely fast how valuable this course is and decided well maybe once I get my other businesses all set up I’ll circle back around and sell this. Turns out I’m skipping a few steps.
Why you ask? I can’t wait to sell this because I know how much value I am getting from this program and so I don’t want to wait and stall anyones progress. I want to get this info out to as many people as I can so that they can also start a passive income stream or build an online business that they’ve been wanting but not knowing how to start.
This course is far more valuable than the price tag on it. You have to be willing to put the time and effort in. It is not easy, fast money. It takes time to build; patience and determination are key. You have to want to change your life.
Rather than picking a new Netflix series or vegging out, I am spending any extra time I have putting time into this so that I can build passive income. I just want people to know that it isn’t a get-rich overnight scheme.
